About Us
Imperium Electronics started with an unexpected conversation. Jason Plankers, one of the founders, spoke with someone who locked herself out of her apartment – with her phone inside. She called a neighbor for help. Instead of calling the apartment’s maintenance department, the neighbor offered to pick the door lock instead – and did so in a few minutes.

A few weeks later, Jason saw a news story about an app that can photograph and duplicate a set of keys – no questions asked. It sparked this idea: Can we retrofit an existing door lock without modifying the deadbolt, and without depending on a cellphone or the easy-to-hack Internet for secure access? Such a home security product didn’t exist. Until Imperium Electronics was born.
The company is made up of electrical and mechanical engineers, developers, project managers, and marketing professionals. Not content with being just an aggressive start-up, everyone at Imperium Electronics shares a single-minded vision for something greater: to be a commanding presence in the field of electronics by producing inspiring products that appeal to everyone.
